Licensed Clinical Social Worker
I've been a social worker for 17 years and have a varied background that includes: experience working at a not for profit supporting families in the foster care system, early intervention, programming for children with varied disabilities, intensive in-home therapy for youth and adults, and most recently as a school social worker in a local school district.
My approach in working with individuals in the therapeutic setting is person-centered and strengths based. I like to let the individual guide the session and feel empowered to work toward what feels like achievable goals, offering frequent validation and a trusting environment. I value that everyone is at their own unique stage in their ability to take the internal and external steps necessary to both seek treatment, and work toward growth and progress. I am here to support at whatever pace is necessary to do so. When appropriate, I also like to incorporate varied systems that individuals encounter, particularly with youth, as there are different levels of both support and influence that can have impact on a person's daily life.
I have a range of experience helping individuals coping with symptoms from Anxiety, Depression, Trauma, Self-Injury, Grief/Loss, Life Transitions, ADHD, Autism, and other challenges impacting one's life functioning. Working as a School Social Worker for the last 5 years has also given me knowledge of the Special Education process and school-based interventions to support the needs of youth in the school system.
I enjoy working with individuals (10+) and families!
