Couple Therapy Session

Mike Wasilewski, LCSW

Author & National Keynote Speaker

Adolescent, Adult, & Couples Psychotherapist

My clients describe me as compassionate, patient, knowledgeable, and that I have the ability to cut to the heart of a complex issue quickly, gently and creatively challenging old patterns of thought and behavior to collaboratively reach solutions they can begin implementing immediately.

Nearly 30 years’ experience spanning mental health, law enforcement, and now psychotherapy has given me a lot of empathy and understanding; I know how fragile life is and how it can change in a moment.  I have had to learn and practice the valuable life skills that enhance my relationships, promote a positive outlook, and create a healthy work/life balance.  I draw from my own experiences and lessons to help others in their journey toward emotional & relationship wellness.

My approach to therapy is "come as you are and let's get down to business."  On the first session we will set goals together and then decide upon the best course of action.  I am well versed in working with adolescents, couples, families, and adults and I am diverse in my approach.  I am trained in multiple modalities of therapy including CBT, DBT, ACT, Psychodynamic, Client-Centered, Mindfulness, Solution-Focused, & The Gottman Method.

Together with my wife, I am an experienced freelance writer who has authored or coauthored close to 400 articles for leading law enforcement publications on a variety of subjects, including marriage, ethics, morale, emotional wellness, and managing trauma.  Our writing has led to stints as national trainers and speakers and the development of our company, More Than A Cop.
